Flatirons Solutions Corporation, a U.S. company, has been awarded a contract by the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) for the Patent Data and Document Management (PDDM) program with a potential value of $1.4 Billion. The period of performance for the contract is ten (10) years if all options are exercised. Under this program, Flatirons will support the United States Patent and Trademark Office in managing the entire life cycle of the patent application processing from the initial filing of the application to the final disposition of the application.
“Flatirons is very pleased at being selected to serve the USPTO under the PDDM program” noted Flatirons CEO, David Goodman. “We bring a very strong capability in data capture and conversion technologies that have been being used to support other intellectual property clients worldwide by Flatirons affiliated company Jouve, including the European Patent Office (EPO) and the German Patent and Trademark Office. Inherent in Flatirons’ approach is the establishment of a purely U.S.-based instance of our systems and the expansion of the data capture and conversion solution to handle the full requirements of the USPTO PDDM program.”
Flatirons will perform the work out of new facilities in Omaha Nebraska and the National Capitol Region working closely with small business teammates.
Flatirons Chief Operating Officer, Steve Scheuber, says “Flatirons is extremely pleased by this contract award and what it means to the Omaha area, where the Flatirons team will be hiring hundreds of new team members in management, data processing, and technical roles to support USPTO patent processing needs. With this being a ten-year program, we’re excited to provide meaningful and stable employment opportunities to the Omaha area and National Capital Region and look forward to many years of success serving the USPTO.”
